IMSI
A Closer Look to Give You the Best Possible Chance
Going through fertility treatment can feel like a bit of a rollercoaster, and we know you want to be sure you’re doing everything possible to have the best chance of success. For some couples, especially where male infertility is a factor, success lies in the tiniest of details. That's where a remarkable technique called IMSI comes in.
So, what is IMSI, in plain English?
Think of standard ICSI as looking at a good, clear photograph. You can see the main features of the sperm. IMSI, on the other hand, is like having a super high-resolution scan of that photo. You can zoom right in and see every tiny detail with incredible clarity.
Our expert embryologists use an incredibly powerful microscope—magnifying things over 6000 times—to get a proper look at the sperm's internal structure. This allows them to spot tiny little flaws, like small bubbles or rough patches on the sperm's head, that you’d miss otherwise. These subtle imperfections can be a sign of DNA damage.
By being able to rule out the sperm with these flaws and picking out only the smoothest, healthiest-looking ones, we're giving your embryos the best possible start.
What’s the real advantage for you?
-
A Better Chance of Good Quality Embryos: It stands to reason that starting with the best possible sperm gives you a better chance of creating strong, healthy embryos.
-
A Bit of Hope When Things Have Been Tough: For couples who have had unsuccessful IVF cycles or have dealt with the heartbreak of miscarriage, IMSI can be a real game-changer.
Is it for us?
IMSI isn't for everyone, but it’s often recommended if:
-
You've had a few goes with IVF that haven't worked out.
-
The chap's sperm results have shown significant issues with shape (morphology).
-
You've sadly been through recurrent miscarriages.
